It could be a ragdoll or a ragamuffin. These are fairly new breeds and not extremely common. Both are a laid back (as you know) breed with a wonderful calm sweet nature. The differences in them are somewhat subtle but amount to different texture in fur, head shape and markings. Both are long hair and are beautiful loving animals. They need to be cared for inside only due to their innocent trusting nature. Ragdolls come in points like Himalayans and will have beautiful blue eyes. Ragamuffins can be any markings and come in a Varity of eye colors. Depending on the markings you may have one or the other. Most likely because you don't know the history of your cat and it isn't registered it isn't worth a lot of money. I have a Ragamuffin that I got from a foster. Even though we know it is a ragamuffin (he even looks exactly like the ragamuffin picture in the book on cats I have) he isn't worth a lot. However, in love and companionship he is worth millions. They are very smart and tend to be somewhat clumsy for a cat (the breed discription describes them as a 2 year old child). I've done tons of research on both breeds and it is easy to come by on the net. If you go through some breeder pages you will probably find a cat similar to yours. And when you see the descriptions of the breed too that will help you decide what yours is. I've listed a couple of sites to get you started. Breeders are usually kind enough to answer questions if you have them. I also have some information if you need. Enjoy your fur baby and know that you have something special.

Ragdolls are a breed of cat and they are very expensive. You can probably look at pictures online to determine if this is the type of cat you have, or ask your vet.

A ragdoll is a breed of cat.

Here is the Cat Fanciers' Association description of a Ragdoll: http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/ragdoll.html

If that's what you have, be happy! They're great. If not...hey, be happy anyway, all cats are great. :-)
