just like humans, cat have different personalities. some cats get separation anxiety (my cat. when I leave he cries at the door).

I’d recommend checking into these (I’ve used the feliway diffuser and it works great):

Yes it is possible Ragdolls are an affectionate breed and can easily become depressed. There are some things you can do I would first make sure your kitten has plenty of play toys, a comfy place to sleep with something that smells like you (blanket, shirt, etc.) to ease the time when you are away. Also try looking into the specific behaviors and care of Ragdolls I have provided a link below that might help you. Just scroll down the page until you see Ragdolls and follow the links.

A lot of people don’t know this but cats can get separation anxiety. They bond with the people they live with and crave companionship too. A vet tech I know recently went to a seminar on this exact topic and my cat Coda suffered from this disorder and my cat Stewie shows some symptoms. The websites I found give examples of extreme cases but also to mention that it is more prevalent in Siamese and Burmese cats and Rag-dolls are thought to have one or the other in there breed. Symptoms I have noticed for separation anxiety in my cats are things like not eating when alone or being too excited when you get home, like yowling and being frantic for attention. My tips on this would be to not make a fuss when leaving like doing special things for you cat just before going out the door. Leave you kitten toys to keep him occupied while your gone. If you are going away for the weekend have someone come over and sit with you cat for a few minutes every day. You can talk it over with your vet too next time you go, they may have some suggestions for things you can try to minimize you pets stress.

    Good luck with your kitten!

I’ve never had a cat have an issue with me being out at work. As long as they have toys, food, and a comfy place to sleep it’s all good.

It seems to bother some cats but not others. I have two cats and one meows and cries when she knows I am leaving and gives me a bit of cold shoulder when I get home and the other cat doesnt seem to mind at all. I have a link on my blog for an ebook on ragdolls if you’re interested.

Ragdolls love their humans much, much more than other cat breeds and are well know for getting depressed when left alone. In fact, in the UK no reputable breeder will sell a single kitten to a home with no other pets where the humans are out to work during the day. I’m sure that would be true of other countries too.

A companion would be so good, could you look into rescuing another Ragdoll, pedigree cats need rescuing too =^-^=

I hope it works out for you both, they really are special friends to have in the world.
