Have 2 Cats and Not Sure What the Breed Is?

July 18th, 2010

I found two very small kittens about 4 to 6 months ago and not sure of the breed. One is a very dark brown and almost all black. The other has a tiger pattern to him. Not sure if they are "ragdoll" cats or not. I am not even sure what ragdoll cats are. I know that when they are in my arms they both go very limp and just hang there wanting and waiting to be loved and rubbed on. They also just spend the ENTIRE day flopping down on tables, chairs, and the floor.

here is a book that can tell you:

Cats-David Alderton -Dorling Kindersley Handbooks (DK)

    http://www.dk.com

that is how I found out what breed my cats were. This book has pictures of every different kind of cat I think. Ragdolls are long haired cats and very pretty. Best of luck on your search.

By the colouring, they don’t sound like ragdolls.

well, if you want to make sure what breeds they are, you should probably ask your vet.

or you can look for pictures of different breeds and their coloration in the net.

awww…. just continue loving and caring for your cats.

Go to the library and ask for a book about cats. I remember there being this big book that had pictures of cats and their breeds in it.

Sounds like you have two darling babies to love and care for. Unless you get cats from a professional breeder they cannot be a particular breed.

The moggies as the British call them usually make the best and healthiest cats. Pure-breed cats tend to have health issues. Different breeds have different problems. For instance, the Himalayans can be prone to have cysts on their kidneys causing them to fail at an early age. Persians can have serious breathing problems. Same in dogs, labs with hip displasia, etc. The mix of genes in the typical cat helps them lead heathier lives.
