How Much Work Is a Ragdoll Cat?

I have a 1 1/2 year old tabby and she sheds but not that much. I only have to brush her once a week. I am thinking about getting a ragdoll cat and i was wondering how often i would need to brush it. Is it a lot harder to take care of a long haired cat?

Depends on the coat of the longhair cat. Raggys have a more silky coat and can get away with 2-3 times a week in grooming. If she/he mats more easily increase it to 3-4 times a week.
if the longhair cat has a Persian type of coat, it would need DAILY combing to keep the coat from matting.
Never use a brush on a longhair cat – its useless. Use a medium and fine toothed comb for grooming.
