I Am Looking to Buy a Ragdoll Kitten, Are There Any Owners That Can Tell Me More About Them?
July 20th, 2010
There isn’t a lot about them online, just the same thing over and over. Long hair, keep them indoors. Also, is there a difference between them and the Ragamuffins?
Thanks to all who sincerely help. Any reputable breeders here from Tyler, Tx?
When a friend of mine got hers, I did some research for her, these are the links I found, absolutely everything is in here:

Ragdolls are social cats, so it’s ok to keep them with other cats. They’re called ragdolls because of the way they sit in your lap all limp and quiet. They just about all look the same, blue eyes, Himalayan fur, etc.
A Ragdoll is an amazing cat to have – so sweet, great disposition and character, loving and special. They just melt in your arms. We have one a year and a half old, and she is just a treasure. We usually have more than one cat at once, but she has been enough excitement for us! She is very entertaining – you walk by her, or towards her and she falls down, rolls over… it’s just so funny. It also was cool to see how she changed in colour from when she was born til she was finished being a chameleon by about 6 months – she was born off-white, then developed brown tail, ears, and the brown patch on her face just kept getting larger and larger. Her back is a beautiful tawny colour, limbs and tummy are white. We call her "Bunny" a lot of the time, even though her name is Taffy, because she sometimes hops around like a bunny, and that’s what her beautiful back fur feels like.
LOVE having her in our family.
I have a friend with a Ragdoll, and I’ve done reasearch on them. They are known to be social, freindly and patient. A good family pet, very gentle.
There’s a bit about them and the difference between them and the Ragamuffin here: http://www.maine-coon-cat-nation.com/large-domestic-cat-breeds.html
Basically, the Ragdoll is a very new breed, and the Ragamuffin is even newer. The Ragamuffin decended from the Ragdoll. It’s fur (the Ragamuffin’s) is a bit different, somewhat like a rabbits. And I think the coloring can be different, and include pointed patterns. (Though you’d want to verify that part.)
