Is a FURminator Comb Suitable for a Ragdoll Cat?

My Ragdoll is shedding BIGTIME, and I’ve seen the FURminator on the net. It seems to work ok for dogs, but I’ve read mixed comments regarding cats. Have you tried it on a long haired/semi long haired cat, and if so, what was the result?

We breed and show Ragdolls and do not recommend the Furminator. It damages coats. The Zoom Groom works nicely.
