Male or Female Ragdoll Kitten Best for Household With Two Golden Retrievers?
July 2nd, 2010
Golden retrievers are about 4-5 years old, a male and female, pretty much indoor all the time, great with kids, mellow, but never been around cats. Looking to get a ragdoll kitten to join the family… Any insight appreciated

I have 3 ragdolls, 2 female, one male. They are ALL COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! The 2 females are OPPOSITE. One is aloof and pretty much couldnt care less about you, and the other is a sweet purring furry ball of sugar! My male, however, is the SWEETEST thing ON THE PLANET. EVER. I have never had a male cat, but honestly I have never seen such a love bug. Hoever, I am sure there are aloof males as well. HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING:::: You MUST ask the breeder his/her opinion!!!! I was concerned a lot with color on my first one (the aloof female). I got hte other 2 from http://www.mistydoll.com/ and was in love with the sweet female, but spoke to the breeder about the male, and she told me he was a DOLL. So we decided to get both and I dont regret it!— Ask the breeder—which of your kittens seems to be the most layed back and relaxed purr box? They should have a good idea. Plus, dont be afraid to get a kitten who is older, as the older they are, the more the breeder will know its personality! (My aloof cat was affectionate when she was very young.) Even 5 or 6 months old, its ok, they are the sweetest cats ever. Plus, they only get prettier and better with age! Go to Misty’s site, she is GREAT! good luck
sex of cat doesn’t make a difference. you just need to introduce them to each other gradually
As said above sex does not matter, but I have had better experience with females, they are less likely to pee all over and "mark thier teratory". Plus, Tomcat (boy) pee stink… it has a very distinct odor, so just bascially it is up to your personal preference, but boys tend to pee all over when they feel threatened, neglected, invasion of territory… ect.
sex doesnt matter
well, female cats are supposed to be less agressive and more of a lap cat, but it depends on the individual cat of course. we recently adopted two kittens from Animal Care and Control, one is the sweetest, calmest cat in the world who loves to be petted and cuddle on my lap, but the other is pretty skittish and rarely will consent to being touched. So it all depends on the cat and whether you choose to adopt from a shelter or get one from a breeder.
Great point of view. Will come again. Thanks
