My 3 Year Old Ragdoll Cat Is Not Getting Along With My New Kitten, Help!?
April 5th, 2010
My new kitten (who is a Himalayen and 10 weeks), came home yesterday and my 3 year old Ragdoll cat is not taking it well. My older cat is extremely scared and been hissy. Is this normal? Any advice would be great on how work on this bond. I hope I didn’t make a mistake getting this new kitten. Thanks!
Additional Ragdoll Cat Info
Hi there…cats require a slow introduction to one another. Generally, it is recommended to isolate the newcomer from the main areas of the home and allow the two to sniff one another from underneath the door to become familiar with one another’s scent.
Here are a few websites which offers excellent tips on how to introduce cats to one another so they will soon become fast friends:

Ideally, it would be best to allow the cats to have their own spaces apart each with their own food, water dishes as well as litter boxes until they become quite comfortable with one another. This also helps the resident cat not feel his territory is being compromised as he sees the kitten as an intruder in his home.
