Need Advice on the Health of a Ragdoll Kitten?
June 20th, 2010
Ragdoll kitten was v quiet which in itself isn’t a bad thing I know but he seemed small for his age and had a very thin ‘rats tail’. Is he just the runt of the litter & will improve with TLC or does it sound more serious?

If the kitten is active and eating well, the fact that it seems small may be because he is the runt. If the kitten is listless, have your vet check it out as soon as possible.
Ragdolls take longer than some other breeds to mature. In fact full development of their coloration takes about 2 years. The "rat tail" should fill out as the kitten ages.
You did not mention the age of your kitten, but you should have it checked out by the vet and its first shots given by about the 6th week of age. The vet will verify the health of your kitten and can provide information on the stages of development you can expect for a Ragdoll.

the kitten may be the runt, if so then he will grow fine with lotsa TLC
i had a kitten the same way, sad outcome though.
I would let a veterenarian see the kitten just to be sure his health is tip-top.
good luck
Ragdolls have no defense mechanisms so they won’t fight back. That’s why they are supposed to be kept indoors. It might be hard to tell if the kitten is listless or just laid back so I would have it checked out by a vet. Better safe than sorry. Plus, if something is wrong then you want to catch it as early as possible.
