The Ragdoll cat is a large gentle cat and justifiably very popular.

they were bred from persians and two other breeds… the comment you make about them not being purebred is misleading. They are without known defects due to inbreeding, however (due to the 3 breed mix).
They are the bestest kitties in the world <3

1:03 is our variety. Xeke “the squeek” as his meowing sounds like a high pitched whiny squeak. We found him abandoned, declawed (!) tho he’d never know it when he goes at it w/his imaginary claws on the furniture. Anyone else have a “squeaky” ragdoll?

i recently got a rescue rag doll, he was born with a cleft palate and because of his looks his owners were terrible. They even pinched his tail off with a vise! Despite all this his sweet nature remains untainted. Niwa is a wonderful and loving cat and i am very happy to have him.

The mother of the Ragdoll breed was an Angora-type cat, not a Persian – I’ve seen a photo of her and she definitely wasn’t Persian. That’s not to say she didn’t have any Persian ancestry, though. There’s definitely some Birman in the Ragdolls too…

Anyway, the Ragdoll is one of my favourite cats. My Ragdoll kitten Sebastian (seal bi-colour) is a beautiful boy and makes my life better.

Also, not all Ragdolls are pointed. There are four patterns allowed: pointed, non-pointed (very rare, though), mitted and bi-colour. The “van” you speak of is actually a white spotting gene that determines the amount of white that crops up within a coat pattern. Generally bi-colours with the van gene display white on the back as well as the belly, legs and chest.

Please find your Radoll a good home. You really don’t deserve to have this cat considering the way you feel. Maybe you two just got off on the wrong foot and this cat will do better in a different home and you will be happier without him/her.

To my knowledge TICA and CFA at this time only registers pointed Ragdolls, which includes the mitted and bi-color; they just have white over the points on their feet and noses respectively. Some are breeding solid colored Ragdolls but the originals were pointed and I don’t believe the solids can be registered at this time.
