Ragdoll Kittens??
March 22nd, 2010
We live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are hoping for a Ragdoll kitten for Christmas. (They are so gorgeous! I fell in love with these cats) Does anyone have a Ragdoll? Can you give me any info. Also, I say we are "hoping" for one because I have no idea how to go about this. I look in the paper and everything, but nothing. advice please. thanks.

I have two male ragdolls, Thomas and Bob. They’re 7 months old. I love them like crazy.
There are a few things you should be aware of:
1) Breeders tell you they don’t shed hair – that’s not true. There’s quite a range of hair lengths and mine definitely need brushing every few days.
2) While they are particularly loving and friendly cats, they’re not all the same. One of my boys purrs so loud and falls over with joy when you pet him, but the other one is quiet.
3) Some ragdolls do talk a lot. One of mine is very vocal and the other one is quiet.
4) These are not docile cats in the sense that they would lay around all day doing nothing. They’re very playful and need LOTS of attention. I recommend getting two so they can keep each other entertained.
5) It is very true that these cats can not be allowed outside without strict and constant supervision. They’re not stupid, but there’s something that makes them want to go up to big dogs, even if the big dogs are barking at them, which is really crazy because they will get their heads bitten off.
6) Mine like to try and chase cars if they’re let outside. I have had to ban them from the front yard so they can’t see any cars going by.
7) They are more like dogs than cats because they want to be near you all the time – even in the bathroom, or on your keyboard, next to you on the couch, under your feet in the kitchen.
Anyway, good luck. Here are mine:
