Should I Get a Ragdoll Cat?
June 20th, 2010
I was thinking of adopting a ragdoll cat. The only problem is that I am not at home that much. My days are long, 6:30am to 6:00 pm. Would this be damaging to the cat knowing the owner would not be at home much? If it will, what type of cat could I get? Should I get two cats so it won’t be alone?

No doubt- get 13 ragdoll cats. That way you have cats- always a plus- and thirteen is a lucky number. It’s a twofer!
If you are going to be out all day then two cats is generally a good idea (though some cats do prefer to be alone). You also shouldn’t get a kitten, as they need food several times a day. Best would be to get two cats who are used to being together from a rescue. It’s very sad when cats who’ve always been together have to be split to get new homes, and of course many people are tempted by the kittens, so most rescues will be very happy to see someone looking to home a pair of adults! A good rescue will also be able to help you choose cats that suit your lifestyle. Most cats are fine to be left all day, but not all.
Any long haired cats need grooming. I think generally Ragdolls are less bother than Persians (do not get a Persian if you lead a busy life!) but you should still allow time for a comb every day. There are specialist pedigree rescues: you might want to do an internet search to see if there is one for Ragdolls near you. They’d also be able to help you decide if a Ragdoll (or two) is right for you.
Maybe you shouldn’t do that. Cats need loving homes, and want to play all day. Working that long is just not really a good thing if you want a cat. You would need to be there all day to feed him/her, give him/her water, and sometimes the box fills to high if you know what i’m saying…lol.sorry, but getting a a cat might not be such a good idea. + the fact that the tear up furniture, & you might have to lock them in the basment, and f course they could be at a loving home, playing with their toys. Its just probably not the best, r right thing to do, if you can’t be home with them. Sorry…
YES! YES! YES!
I have 2 and they are not actual siblings. I got Luna first and because i work I felt so terrible leaving her all day. So a few months later I got Starr. They love each other very much and they are by far the smartest, sweetest, and attention needing (and giving) cats ever! Go Ragdolls!!!
