Does Apple Cider Vinegar Really Work for Feline Conjunctivitis?

September 2nd, 2011

I have two (almost) year-old Ragdoll kittens. One has been suffering from what we believe is mild conjunctivitis. My parents spoke to the breeder as the problem originally presented itself on a Sunday (no vet) and she said it might be related to his teething and that a saline rinse twice a day along with gently wiping away eye boogers with a warm wet cloth should do the trick. We have been doing this consistently with decent results, however he has yet to be cured and should we stop these twice a day treatments the problem comes back just as when it started. I have read online on sites such as earthclinic.com that using a dab of Apple Cider Vinegar (organic, with the mother) on the scruff of their neck and a tiny bit on their paws can be a miracle cure for this problem. My mom keeps ACV in our house at all times for miracle cures on humans and I was wondering if people have had similar success for cats. I really want my beautiful blue eyed cat to be relieved of his discomfort and show his pretty blue eyes once again. :)
