Do Ragdoll Cats Get Along With Dogs?

I have one dog (3 years old, german shepherd x with a collie) and during the times I am at work he is very lonely and is sad whenever I leave him so I have made the decision to get him a friend in the form of a kitten in the hopes that they could keep themselves occupied and happy during the day.
(He’s a very friendly dog and wouldn’t hurt a fly!)
Would a Ragdoll kitten be the perfect cat for him to bond with?
