My Sisters Cat Is Chewing Off All Her Fur.. Vet Can't Find a Reason, Any Suggestions?
So my sister has a Ragdoll cat named Delilah.. she is a beautiful cat but in the past year or so she has been chewing off all her fur, on every part of her body she can reach. She doesn’t have fleas, or mange, my sister has tried allergy diets, shampoos and sprays and cone collars and vets. Her beautiful cat is now hairless everywhere but her head and feet. I’ve recommended her to try Feliway calming diffusers so she is going to try that next. Her cat was from her friend who is to my mind a BYB and I’m pretty sure not too strict in her breeding practices.. so could this be a genetic thing? I’ve known some cats to chew or lick their fur off due to stress, or because they don’t get along with other cats in the household.. but never to this extent. Her cat is not fixed yet either which she is going to have done when she has the funds, could the excessive chewing be from stress related to heats? IS there anything anyone could recommend to try or any ideas? My sister took her cat to the vet and they said they could find no medical reason for the problem. But still it can’t be healthy and it can’t be good for her.. so if anyone has any advice or suggestions I could give to my sister it would be appreciated. The cat doesn’t have any scabs or sores.. just chews the fur off at the root.
Thank you everyone, I will pass along your ideas and suggestions to my sister!
Just be.. Good to hear from you again! hope you are doing well.. Peace KC
