What Is the Normal Weight for a Ragdoll Kitten?

June 19th, 2010

I was just wondering if anyone knew what weight was considered "normal" for a 12 week old Ragdoll kitten… and what is a good amount of weight for him to gain every week?

check a kittenwise.com … i checked there for info on my rag-doll … she wasn’t really ‘filling out’ …growing…very long and very active….then I found out it can take up to 2 years for rag-dolls to start their ‘adult’ growth and get past their kitten stages…needless to say when she does fill out she will be a very hefty kitty…lol

Some breeds of cats are bigger than other breeds of cats (as you probably know!) Ragdolls and Maine Coon Cats tend to grow to be rather large kitties, weighing anywhere from 13-20 pounds or more. (We have two 18-pounders!!!)

If you are concerned that your kitten is underweight or overweight, have him checked out by a vet … better to be safe than sorry. Kitten food has more nutrients (protein, calories and fat) than regular cat food … and it is easier to digest … so just be sure that you are feeding your kitten a healthy diet and getting plenty of pounce-around-the-house exercise!

Here is the link to a GREAT website to answer all of your questions about your new kitten….. http://kittencare.com/

Here is a link to a website about Ragdolls … http://www.ragdoll.org/ …. and it looks like you can get a book called "Guide to Owning a Ragdoll Cat."

Purrrrrr to you and your kitten!
