Where Is the Best Place to Buy a Ragdoll Cat/kitten?

June 21st, 2010

Please don’t tell me do adopt from a shelter, I don’t want a domestic shorthair. I would also like full registration.

Seal bicolor if it matters.
Hudsongrey. Here is a pic of a seal bicolor: http://www.catbirddolls.com/Lovable%20Lola.jpg

Here is a seal point: http://www.ragdolls.be/images/ragdoll_selia_odin_of_calaquendi1.jpg

Can you see the difference?

Find a local breeder and ask to see where the cats are kept and to see the parents.

Look online and search for a breeder. Or, look for any cat shows that may be happening in the area. I used to be a member of the organization and its a great way to meet breeders and see the breed up close.

Please, please, please don’t buy them from a pet store. Pet stores will rip you off on the price and they often won’t guarantee you anything. I have seen so many people fall victim to them by buying a pet and then having to get a vet’s note so they can return them, because the person bought an animal that wasn’t 100% healthy.

With a breeder, they can give you information, allow you to see/meet the parents and if for any reason you have a sick kitten through no fault of your own, they will compensate for it.

    Hope this helps :)

Here’s a website to help you find ethical breeders. Good luck in finidng the right one. And don’t be surprised if you have to be on a waiting list if you want a particular color.

I’m waiting for a show quality Ocicat kitten (right now we are deciding on one of two – whichever is the better). I put in for a neutered male in one of two colors…….last February. I’ll be getting him in March of next year. Be patient and the right one will come along.

BTW the seal bicolors are flashy – I like the seal mitted ones too.

They’;re all bicolors, this is the coat color of the breed.

Buy from a breeder who’s working to improve the breed. Or from a feline rescue that specialises in Ragdolls.

Just google ‘breed rescue Ragdoll Cats’ and the state you’re in (not the city, you may have to expand to cover the whole state since Ragdolls are not that common.
