Which Breed Is He? Ragdoll, or Himalayan?
September 8th, 2010
I have had my cat Sky for more than nine years now, and when I adopted him, the lady I adopted him from told me that he was a blue point himalayan cat. Well after doing some research on the breed, I am skeptical as to whether or not he is. In my research I discovered that Sky may be a Blue Point Ragdoll, he has all of the physical features, including the "limpness" that gives the breed its name, however he is shy and does not like a lot of people, which my research says is uncommon. Sky also loves to lounge around the house and do nothing but sleep, which again in my research is not characteristic to the breed, they love to play. I am just curious, for those of you who know the difference, what do you think he could be?
picture would help. i have known plenty of domestic cats that would fit either of your descriptions.
i will advise going to ask a vet since by your desciption it has characteristic of both breeds
The lady you got him from should have given you registration papers stating the breed he is. Since she didn’t there is no way to tell what he is from a picture or no picture. There is no way at all to tell unless you have registration papers from a cat registry like CFA or TICA.
R P CAT
R P, that was a very polite and caring answer.
It is really nice to see someone answer a question like this with sensitivity rather than coming across as … what is the word…. I think it has the same meaning as a female dog that has bred.
