Why Are Ragdoll and Ragamuffin Kittens So Similar?
June 5th, 2010
I bought a ragamuffin kitten from a lady who was selling both ragamuffins and ragdolls, and was just wondering if one kind is supposed to be better than the other kind.
I’ve read that they’re two different breeds, but I have also read that ragamuffins can be ragdolls that weren’t up to standards. Is that true?
No. Ragamuffins are their own breed, a new breed that was officialized in the 90′s by a lady named Ann in California who, from the stray neighborhood cats in her area of Riverside, bred a new breed of cats with certain desirable characteristics. That is why they are called "Ragamuffins" because of their roots as homeless wanderers. As to whether or not one is better, I think is a matter of taste.
They are both really ‘slinky’ cats. I think one is male and one is female, that’s all.
